I had a sleep study done and was told that I have severe sleep apnoea.
The doctor told me that I would get a CPAP machine in about 7 days and that I would be reviewed about a month after that.
I have just called the CPAP department and spoken to a staff member as it's been 8 days and I had heard nothing.
I was told that there's a "massive waiting list" and there's about 50 people in front of me with "priority going to those who drive for a living".
I was told that it would probably be at least another month before I get a machine and I felt I was an inconvenience for even daring to ask about a machine after such a short amount of time since my appointment.
I too have had to stop driving but I don't drive for a living. As far as I knew, sleep apnoea is a serious condition and to think that clinical priority is given on the basis of occupation seems wrong to me.
