We had our first baby yesterday 29.12.17. I went into labour the night before and with it being my first baby wasn’t entirely sure if I was in definite labour. I called the assessment unit who advised me with what to do. As I had not monitored my babies movement since starting contractions they had me come to see them first before being moved down to the birthing centre. The staff were absolutely brilliant through out the hospital. Was seen to quickly in the assessment unit where they monitored my baby and examined me. They then called down for a water room to be organised for me.
Once downstairs and introduced to my midwife, we quickly settled in to the room.
My labour was quickly progressing and my midwife was with me the whole time. She was excellent, cannot fault her at all.
The only thing, which had us all shocked (including the staff) was, as I gave birth, to everyone’s surprise my baby was Breech!!!!!
No one had realised! However, the response of the midwives downstairs meant within minutes, I had the appropriate staff in the room ready to take me up stairs. I could not fault their response time. Thankfully, because of the excellence of the staff I manage to deliver him downstairs with no complications.
My baby boy, perfect and healthy.
Thank you so much to all staff involved and especially my midwife!
