(as a service user),

I was admitted to the Weaver Ward, at the Brooker Centre, Runcorn – in November 2010 until December 2010. Which I felt was a long time to me. I felt I was never coming home and would never feel good about anyone or anything. Then the brilliant staff and my carers made me feel great to be back to normal, not 100% but not far from it.

Lots of special people to thank for helping me feel good about myself and yes life is worth carrying on. After my help given to me by all concerned in Weaver Ward. With then going onto the brilliant Ashley House. Special thanks to my care worker and your team. The best help and without my gp I never would be at this level I am. Knowing there is so much help there is a great feeling. Thank you all!

Thank you for your posting and kind words and I am glad you are feeling better.

It is not uncommon for someone who is suffering from mental health problems to have a co-existing problem with substance misuse as they try to relieve the

symptoms they experience but the alcohol or drugs they use actually make the illness worse.

GP, s, the mental health treatment services and the substance misuse treatment services have worked to ensure that they have good links between them so that services are co-ordinated and that service users receive the interventions they need to help with their problems and your case seems to evidence this, which is good for us to know.

I will also ensure that your posting and thanks are discussed both within Ashley House and at the Brooker Centre via the Managers Team Brief meeting I go to which is also attended by in-patient area staff including from Weaver ward.
