"Oral & Maxillofacial Dept"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

First referred, by my Dentist, in June 2017 and finally was seen on 18 October. I signed consent for Biopsy and was informed this would be performed "within 6 weeks, before Christmas". This did not happen and when I phoned to ask why I was informed that a key member of staff was "off sick". My second phone call in January I was given an appt (a cancellation) for 17 Jan and duly attended on that day. After waiting for approx 1 hour I was informed that my procedure was cancelled because of a "Dental Emergency". The Dr went on to say that I would be re-scheduled either later in that week, or sometime the following week....... I am still waiting!

I did telephone the appointments department and was told that the person responsible for making the appointment was off work until Monday 29 January.

I find it rather strange that appointments for the oral biopsy can only be made by one person.

I feel that 6 months is totally unacceptable amount of time from referral to - not even an outcome.

The circumstances you have described are very unfortunate and the team responsible have been asked to make direct contact with you to sort this situation out.
