I love the way this department is organised. You have an appointment and if you are late, more than 10 minutes you are not seen and need to make another appointment, rather than keeping everyone else waiting. If you don't turn up you are discharged and need to be re-referred. All very harsh, but it does mean that only those who are serious about their treatment are seen, waiting time is next to nothing and there is little waste of resources.

It is a very brave step to discharge a patient for not turning up but it does protect the resources available for those who want to use them. Leicester Royal Infirmary could learn a great deal from this exercise.
