"No support and no appointment with a cardiologist"

About: University Hospital Lewisham / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

Since leaving Lewisham with a serious cardiac condition and pulmonary embolism in early February my partner has yet to be seen by a cardiologist.

He has been seen once in the blood clot clinic and it has become clear that he has fallen off the system since his discharge.  We had to fight just to get him a blood clot clinic appointment.

He feels unwell most days and is becoming suicidal.   We have had NO information about his diagnosis or prognosis, his medium and long term recovery and health prospects, what he can or cannot do and if or when he can return to work.  We have had NO support in terms of managing his condition.

I don't know how much longer we can go on like this.

Dear Marchesa

I am sorry to learn of your partners experience at Lewisham Hospital under the Medical and Cardiology Team . At Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust we aim to provide a high standard of care and I am genuinely disappointed when it is indicated that we may have failed to achieve this.

We offer our apologises for your partners experiences.

I am aware that this is currently undergoing a formal process of investigation via our Patient Advice and Liaison Team.

Kind regards

Charlotte Carter

Service Manager for Cardiology

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust
