"Waiting for scan result"

About: East Surrey Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

My husband had an MRI head in mid febrary which had been requested by the Stroke Team.   He has an OPA in a few months so I called the secretary to bring the appointment forward to get the result of the scan.   I was told this was not possible but that the consultant would write a letter to us.   It is now roughly 8 weeks since the scan, we have called the secretary 4 times to get the letter done.   The first time they forgot to ask the consultant.   The last time my husband was told that the consultant hasn't or won't approve the letter.   This is not good enough as my husband needs to know whether he needs to continue with his medication.

Hi Scuse

I am sorry to hear about the delay in getting the result for your husband's MR scan.

Please can I ask you to contact June Milliams - MR Superintendent via email june.milliams@sash.nhs.uk or on extension 6025 at East Surrey hospital - 01737 768511 so she can ensure the scan has already been reported by one of our Radiologists and the result is with your consultant’s secretary.

This could help prevent any further possible delays for your husband.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Diane

Update posted by Scuse (a service user)

Thank you for getting back to me. However I know the scan has been reported. It is getting the letter from the consultant with the result of the scan which is the issue. There is no issue with the radiology dept.

Dr Scuse

I am so sorry for the delay and I can understand your anxiety. I agree that it is not good enough.

If you would like to contact our PALS team via the switchboard they can identify the team members that can help you and hopefully we can make progress quickly. I agree with Diane that the MRI department would also be happy to help.

If you would like to email me instead then my email is ben.mearns@nhs.net and I will try to help myself, although my response may be a little delayed this week.

You have my apologies.

Ben
