"Phlebotomy at Royal Victoria Hospital (EKHUFT) Folkestone"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital (Folkestone) / Clinical haematology

(as the patient),

I'm really unclear what the system is for blood tests if you are sent there from out-patients. I waited for ages whilst patients with GP appointments went it. There is a system to take a ticket, but the number changed once in the first half hour I sat there. Not great if you are anxious about getting back to work.

Thank you for letting us know about the experience you had whilst waiting for a blood test at the Royal Victoria Hospital. I have asked Dai Davies our Interim Director for the Clinical Support Services Division for help in answering your comments.

Dai tells me that the phlebotomy service at the Royal Victoria Hospital Folkestone always has two phlebotomists working within it. One deals with pre-booked GP patients and the other with outpatients/minor injury unit patients. Sometimes we have patients such as children or those who are needle phobic who require a little extra time, on the rare occasions this happens it does mean that other patients have to wait a little longer.

We always try to avoid any additional waiting, we will however as a result of your feedback ask our phlebotomists to let people know if there is a delay.

Thanks again for your feedback, we very much appreciate you taking the time to let us and other people know about your experiences of using our services.
