"The stars of Ward 17"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

My grandad was recently admitted into hospital and after spending a couple of nights on the MAU ward (who were also brilliant), he was transferred to ward 17. It became clear that, unfortunately, he was coming to the end of his life and was not well enough to be moved to the hospice. The ladies of Ward 17 were the best! They looked after him so well that we took comfort knowing he'd be in good hands during his final days. They kept his spirits up and treat him like a friend and when we spent long hours and overnight stays there they fed and watered us and provided chairs and blankets. We were looked after and supported right up until my grandad passing. We honestly couldn't have wished for a better group of people at that difficult time and I wanted to make sure their fantastic efforts were acknowledged.
