"Amazing Care from outstanding staff"

I was an inpatient at darent valley hospital for 2 weeks, a week of those spent on Laurel ward where I received the most amazing care from every staff member, all the staff from the kitchen staff to the ward manager worked well as a team and had respect for each other and it showed with the care they gave to their patients. As a young woman I was treated with such respect and care and my dignity maintained throughout, I had not been able to wash my hair for 10 days prior to being admitted onto laurel ward and the nursing assistant offered to wash my hair and put it in French plaits for me so that the back of my hair did not get knotted where I could only lay on my back, this care really meant so much to me that I was given the time and care to make myself feel that little bit better when I was really suffering.

I also was overwhelmed by the care and attention I received from the surgical team, I was visited daily by the surgical consultant and he even visited me on his days off to check on my blood results and to make sure I was ok, his junior also checked on me everyday even when I was discharged from them, this gave me such faith in them and made me feel special and that I was in good hands.

I am so impressed with every standard of care given by all the staff that cared for me in a horrible time. I also need to commend the staff in A+E, I was treated so quickly and so kindly again by every member of staff.

There is so much negativity in the NHS at the moment and with the levels of staffing and not enough nurses I wanted to commend every single member of staff as this did not affect the care that was given to me in any way.

They really are amazing and deserve so much more praise than i feel I can give.
