My Father in Law was re-admitted to Clay Cross hospital after a request made by the family for palliative care. The reason for the request to return to Clay Cross Hospital was partially due to the utter lack of dignity provided by Pearson Ward in Chesterfield hospital.
Unfortunately due to work commitment I could not attend during his first short stay on Alton ward but the family members who did said they were impressed by the ward and staff. Following my first visit I found the staff to be polite and attentive. ALL staff on Alton ward constantly gave their utmost care and above all respect for the patient and family. At no time did I feel that I was being fobbed off with answers to my questions as the Doctors and nurses always made you feel that you, your family and above all the patient came before anything else. Although naming individuals is not permitted it is quite clear that the senior nurses set a shining example which is reflected in how the rest of the staff operate.
The ward and rooms were always clean and staff delivering food and drinks were helpful and polite, absolutely nothing was too much trouble.
"Alton ward and staff."
