A mixed experience but mostly positive! When I arrived at day surgery a health care support worker whos name I didnt catch, showed me through to a changing room and simply said, "clothes in the bag, gown on, ties at the back, ring the buzzer when you are done". She never introduced herself and never smiled once, I was then left in a waiting area in a hospital gown, feeling very vulnerable as noone had told me what the plan would be for the day, i.e if I would be moved to a ward prior to surgery, when my surgery would be, what would happen after it?! However, every other member of staff I met from this point on were fantastic! All the doctors, anaesthetists, and recovery staff in particular, were so attentive and caring, I couldn't have asked for better care. I would like to thank student nurse Sharon (I think this was her name) who was so friendly yet professional and took the time to explain to me what was going to happen throughout the course of the day, brilliant student and im sure she will also make a brilliant staff nurse!
Thank you to everyone for all their care and compassion on the day of my surgery!
