My first visit to the Endoscopy Unit was last month for a sigmoidoscopy and went well with 2 polyps diagnosed and removed and sent for analysis.
My surgeon was Mr Robertson who was very pleasant and very professional. You could tell the staff in the theatre respected him. He made the whole experience much easier. They say that a happy ship is a more efficient ship and I certainly felt that was the case on this visit. My second visit this week was for a follow up colonoscopy to check to see there were no more polyps. My surgeon on this occasion was a Locum Surgeon. The ladies in the theatre were very pleasant indeed and were chatting to me to try and take my mind off the procedure. The surgeon told them to stop talking and was quite short with them, almost rude. The atmosphere in the theatre was certainly very different to the first visit. The surgeon could definitely do with working on their bedside manner and treating colleagues with the respect they deserve. I have no complaint about the actual procedure.I must say that all the nursing staff that I had contact with on the two occasions were absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to make me as comfortable as possible. They all do an amazing job. Thank you ladies
