"Excellent care at A&E, Tameside General Hospital"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I went to A&E at Tameside Hospital just after Christmas. I had a very fast pulse rate which was very worrying.

I was taken into a new, modern, bright area of the department and within minutes the staff had me hooked up to a monitoring machine, and were taking blood samples and an x ray. An excellent charge nurse kept me well informed of what was going on and what the results of the various tests meant as they came back. The doctor who saw me was calm, informative, patient and helpful.

Fortunately nothing serious was detected, but I am sure I was in very good hands had there been a major problem. The care and treatment at Tameside A&E Department was excellent.

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved?

Please contact Philip Dylak, Director of Nursing at philip.dylak@tgh.nhs.uk
