After waiting for almost 2 years for knee replacement surgery I got sent to the Golden Jubilee, I had my pre-op assessment on the Friday and passed and was told to come in on the Monday for the operation to be performed on the Tuesday.
My surgeon was Mr Niall and I could not have wished for a better Surgeon. I had my knee surgery on the Tuesday and was in really bad pain on the Wednesday I was seen by the pain management team and it was decided I needed morphine drip for pain relief. My stay at the hospital was very pleasant the nurses were extremely helpful and did their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The meals very nice and nourishing also and the room was nice to stay in also.
I was seen by the physios and given a cd and booklet telling me what exercises I should be doing to get my joint in good form. I was taken along to the Gym and was given some exercises and shown how to walk up and down the stairs. I could not recommend this hospital more.
I've since been in the New Queen Elizabeth and do not want to be admitted to this hospital again, the food was awful , I was sent in by my GP for severe pain as I am again waiting on another knee replacement. My GP requested that I been seen by the Orthopedic Team and I was told that wasn't going to happen I was only here to get my pain sorted out there was nothing the Orthopedic Doctors could do I would just need to wait to get seen by my surgeon.
That was over a year ago I was last seen by him and have been almost waiting 2 years for my second knee replacement. I'm in so much pain my knee severely swollen and I'm limping and need my crutches to walk the pain keeps me awake at night and I think to be left this length of time is appalling.
I couldn't recommend the Golden Jubilee enough it really is a fantastic hospital with wonderful caring staff who have time for you.
