I fell at home and badly gashed my brow which bled profusely because I take a blood thinner for atrial fibrillation. On attending Raigmore A&E I was seen immediately by the doctor who stitched the wound and asked for a CT scan and took various blood samples. Because of my low blood pressure he arranged for me to stay in hospital for assessment. In Ward GA I was seen by a nurse, a medical student and subsequently by a consultant who decided I should stay in hospital overnight. I was placed in Room 6 of Ward GA and seen by the consultant the following morning who decided on a change to my drug regime and an experimental period for blood pressure measurements. I was discharged for hospital at lunch time.
Throughout my stay in hospital I experienced excellent treatment from all members of staff - A&E doctor, scanning staff, porters, nurses, medical student and consultant and colleagues. They were caring and explained all procedures to me, although I could see they were all working under considerable pressure. Two minor complaints - quantities of dried blood were allowed to remain on my hair and fibregel could not be found for my consumption.
