"X-ray department at cramlington hospital."

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

My partner atteneded A&E due to shortness of breath and pain in left side of chest, seen very quickly and moved to ward 6 where we were seen by a brilliant nurse practitioner.

One investigation was a chest X-ray. We went to X-ray and waited an hour, I informed 3 members of the team and every time was told ok, I will let them know. No apologie and sat and watched about 8 people go in before him. I totally understand that not everyone would of been getting an X-ray. However, where has common courtesy and respect gone with people who work in this department?! Not one person come back to explain about the wait, no apologie all while my partner was sitting in pain. Please inform your staff that communication is vital in healthcare, the X-ray department truely lets the hospital down. What a shame, they can’t show care, compassion and communication. Thankfully all other members of the team at cramlington hospitals can show these fundamental skills

Dear Jonny,

I am sorry to hear that your partner has been in such pain recently. I hope they’re now feeling better.

We will of course share your review with the team in our x-ray department to ensure we do all we can to learn from your partners experience with us.

It’s only from hearing about our patients experiences’ that we can improve so thank you for taking the time to share this with us.

All the best to you and your partner,

Jan

I have shared your review with the X-Ray team. They have asked, with your partner's permission, if you can send their details so that they can look into what happened on the date you came in. Would you mind please sending their name and DOB to patient.experience@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk.

Kind regards,

The Patient Experience Team
