"MRI Scan Bexley Wing"

About: St James's University Hospital

I had to visit St James for an MRI scan. To say I was scared and nervous was an understatement. On arrival i was met by a lovely nurse who instantly reassured me that i would be ok. I had to have a cannula fitted before the scan which proved very difficult to do. I had 4 wonderful nurses in the room trying to make it happen while distracting me.

I explained how scared I was and had totally reassurance. My abdomen was being scanned so thankfully my head didnt need to go into the machine. I was still so scared every time the bed moved a little further forward. No matter how much it scared me, they didnt hesitate to promise me that it would go no further. During the procedure, the bed moved a couple of times and at first I pressed the panic button. ,they were kind and fully understanding of my distress. They even found fab rock music for me to listen to! Anyone reading this, please dont be as scared as me. The staff were wonderful. Thank you

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us.

Your post is wonderful to read and I am extremely pleased that you had such a positive experience whilst using our MRI services.

Having any treatment at the hospital can be a very scary time for patients and it is lovely to read that the staff put you at ease and reassured you at such a stressful time.

I have taken the liberty of passing your kind words onto the manager for Radiology and asked that she share them with the team. I know that they will be delighted to know that they are delivering a level of care that met your needs and fulfilled your expectations.

With kindest regards
