I offered morphine for pain at the pain clinic, which made me very unhappy and and almost rejected. However I got in touch with the centre for Integrative care (a friend recommended) and it has had such a positive influence upon me that I felt I had to share.
Whilst the day clinic equipped me with better cognitive skills to help deal with my situation, inclusive of meditation, healing and tai chi, they also gave me a prescription (rose galia) which has also helped me cope.
By far the most positive experience I feel I have had with the NHS I have to say. The doctor (Dr Caulfield) also recommended acupuncture, which I now receive from Carol (Fairley) in the unit. I cannot praise this approach to healthcare enough. These kind people have actually taken me off the scrap heap, is how I feel. Incidentally the pain clinic could have offered acupuncture, but they chose not to.
I also attend clinics (rheumatology and mineral metabolism clinics) neither have ever offered any other treatments rather than drugs.
