What I liked
I attended the Seal Unit for a day case procedure under a general anaesthetic. I was called into see a nurse then changed into a gown and waited in a comfortable female waiting lounge.
One and a half hours later I went through for the operation. After the operation I was taken to the Day Ward and shortly after allowed to call a relative to collect me. In total I was at the hospital for 4 to 5 hours.
I found the whole experience quick and efficient and the staff were pleasant.
What could be improved
Relatives/friends of patients are asked not to attend Seal, as there is limited space, but drop off the patient then leave. However, many ignored this request and waited with the patient until they were called through by a nurse. Because of this it was crowded. Staff had to keep asking patients/relatives to please give up their seats to patients waiting.
