"Dermatology at Hertford County, Hertford, Herts."

About: Lister Hospital

(as the patient),

I am a psoriasis sufferer and have had it for over 25 years. I have obviously come across a lot of dermatologists and derm depts over my life. I moved to Herts from Kent, where I was lucky enough to have a GP with Specialist Interest in Dermatology. I originally went to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage. I was referred for UVB at Hertford, where I came across the small dept. with two part-time consultants. I have never come across a more friendly dept in 25 years. Not only is it friendly, but it also 'cares' about the psycho-emotional apsects of living with this chronic condition. The derms are knowledgable, experienced and able to prescribe effectively and keep up a continuity of care I have never experienced in another hospital. Moreover, they take the time to treat each patient as a human being and not a hospital number - always time to chat about the condition, even if it makes them slightly late for the next appt. And it doesn't matter, because all the patients know it is because the care of the patients is what is important. I would be loathe to leave this dept. I would consider seeing them privately if I moved out of the area!!! Keep it up chaps! A friendly and supportive website for psoriasis anb psoriatic arthritis sufferers can be found here .
