"Concerned about infection risk"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow

(as the patient),

I have Cystic Fibrosis and I'm very concerned with the level of infections that affect the lungs in the queen Elizabeth hospital. I have spent quite a few weeks as an in patient there in the past few months. My lung function suddenly deteriorated during one of my stays and it has never returned to my normal.

The infection I was fighting went on and on and on. After what I have read in the press, I am beginning to think I may have contracted something similar. What I'm not impressed with is that no doctor even mentioned it as a possibility. Surely people with CF who have stayed there have been tested for these diseases as a matter of course?

I also had to ask to have my room and bathroom cleaned after four days.

The CF team are great I just don't like what feels to me like the secrecy surrounding these infections. People with cystic Fibrosis are extremely vulnerable and I now do not want want another stay in here but will have no alternative so I will feel Im putting my life at risk in this hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to post about your concerns regarding infection risk.

I am very sorry to hear that you feel vulnerable and that our communication around infections feels secretive.
