I have made calls to mental health, and Topaz Ward in the crystal centre. Trying to gain info on there set up of ward, bedrooms, facilities, family visiting. This has been a task and still no information only attitude from staff . I explained I just need to know if they was up to our expectations for mum and not locked up all day, the answer I received was it is a locked and secured ward.
Is there anyone who can help me and give me there views..

I apologise you have had a poor experience trying to gain information regarding Topaz Ward, we hope to give our Service Users and Families a positive experience and have failed on this occasion. We operate a transparent service, welcoming visitors to view the ward upon admission, where you will see a variety of open areas for activities to take place, quiet areas if our service users prefer to watch TV or alternative rooms for reading and relaxing. The ward door to outside is locked to prevent our vulnerable Service Users wandering from the ward. As Matron for the unit I would be very happy to show you round and answer any further questions you may have. Please do contact me at the Crystal Centre on 01245 515323.
