My psychiatrist here at Glanville House was in my view very unhelpful and not the slightest bit interested in my quite complex case, unlike my previous doctor. I had a lot of changes and complications with my medication and it was passed back to my GP to deal with. I ended up paying to see a private psychiatrist on occasions, as my GP was not comfortable dealing with psychiatric medication in my case.
Further more my GP tried to refer me back to the service for support and I was just passed off to the Talking Therapies team. I have now discovered that Talking Therpies cannot provide the intensity of therapy that I would need, in line with the NICE Guidance for my condition. A leading expert on my condition agrees that it's unlikely to be enough for me. So I was wrongly passed off to a service that was not appropriate.
When I asked if it would be possible for the Trust to refund a private consultation that I had to pay, I was completely ignored. It's wrong that someone on welfare benefits should be forced to fund their own treatment. The same member of staff who ignored me, also failed to act on a few other things that was agreed on.
I have now been given an appointment with a psychiatrist to review my medication, after two years of complaining and my concerns being ignored. To this day I am yet to receive a written apology from the Trust.
I think the whole thing is a disgrace. To treat another human being who is suffering with such little care and compassion is beyond me. The Trust even tried to use an excuse to say I didn't need psychiatrist support anymore. This was then changed to a different reason by a service manager, who said it was because of changes in the service. I feel that they tried to pull the wool over my eyes, but I suspected for a long time the Trust were hiding behind a pretense. I'm very aware of what goes on in this political service who cannot live up to their values.
