"Ward 20"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

Admitted to ward 20 assessment bay.

Was on an assessment trolley 11 hours and as their were no beds on the ward a full size bed was brought into the bay after 11 hrs until a bed on the ward was available.

In the assessment bay I witnessed a nurse going from one patient to the other without washing her hands.

Whilst on the ward communication between medical staff was appauling.

Medication I was bring given prior to my CT was delayed as staff were not aware of dosage prescribed and how to administer which concerned me.

The male night nurse came on duty, stood at the end of my bed looking at his notes on the computer, didnt speak to me then just handed me some painkillers without asking me my name or if I required them. Would have been polite for him to say good evening at least.

I was told by my surgeon that I could eat and drink but the nurses told me couldnt have anything as they had not been instructed.

Most staff on the ward were polite and friendly.

Sadly a small number of staff need educating in good manners.
