"Rude staff member at oncology clinic 2"

About: Northwick Park Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I had an appointment with my oncologist and with the stress I currently experiencing, this member of staff is not very helpful. They have been rude, unfriendly with the patients inquiring. Supposedly they would greet you with a smile or look at you when talking but they even ignore patients and say they're alone and doing something.

We understand you could be busy but you should show some respect and compassion to your work. That's why you are working. This staff member doesn't seem to understand their role when dealing with patients. Fellow patients have been talking regarding this bad behaviour. Patients don't deserve this kind of treatment from healthcare employees, if they can't show respect and proper behaviour, I don't think they should be working in this environment. It is such a shame to see and experience yourself when I have been very good to my clients.

I am so sorry to read this. All our patients deserve respect and compassion: this is central to our Trust values and is even more important at a stressful oncology appointment.

Dear Sue, thank you for your response regarding this event. We patiently waited for 2 hours for that appointment but the HCA for the morning time was unfriendly and unapproachable not to one but most of the patients waiting. Thank you if this will be addressed as I will still have more appointments to follow and don't want to experience this again. Thank you
