"Medical Physics visit"

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital / General medicine

The calm of the medical physics department was a most welcome relief from the disorganised lottery of parking at the hospital, and the noise and chaos in and around the reception area.

Arriving early for my appointment (living in the Dales), we were greeted politely by the receptionist. She even offered to include a card I was posting with her mail to save me finding a post box - I am in my seventies.

I was invited 5 minutes early for appointment and greeted by the technician handling my procedure. From the get - go she was smiling, pleasant and reassuring. She explained clearly what to expect and the scan was completed without fuss. Very professional.

I was treated as an individual, not just another faceless patient - we had a short friendly personal discussion and I left with a smile on my face.

The technician was delightful in every way and everything one hopes for in a, (rare in my case), encounter with the NHS. Thank you - you were doing your job, but doing it with enthusiasm, kindness and humanity. Well done Medical Physics!
