I feel the T-4 ward at Oldham Hospital is truly a disgrace and embarrassment to the NHS. I just really hope other wards/hospitals aren't like this.
I was admitted for an abscess where I was told that it could possibly burst, turn to sepsis and could prove fatal. Vital pain medication was often forgotten to be given by the staff and in some cases not given at all. It wasn't until 4 days later that I received my surgery.
I was promised upon being discharged that a District Nurse would be in touch and I would get a daily home visit to have the wound packed. I was discharged before 10 a.m on the day following surgery and didn't receive any correspondence for another day. Thanks to those who work on that ward, they put in my referral I was fit to travel to a care centre to have my wound changed. I have a hole in my side and I can barely walk.
The attitude of those staff on the T4 ward beggars belief. They appear overstaffed and seemed more concerned about meal times than getting patients the treatment they need.
