"Vascular surgery and Ward 23"

About: Glenfield Hospital

My aneurysm was picked up by the voluntary screening program run from Glenfield

Hospital. I always found the nurses who carried out the ultrasound scans to be professional and efficient, when aneurysm was expected to be large enough for hospital admittance the nurse had even allowed extra time to advise and reassure me.

An appointment with a consultant was prompt and a course of action advised. I then

underwent various scans and tests which meant the method of surgery had to be changed from open to keyhole. The whole process of advise and tests was very speedy and

I felt in control of the whole process.

I had two operations one by the angioplasty team to block off an artery and the follow

up by the vascular surgery team for a full abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR).

After both procedures I was looked after by the team on Ward 23 who all were absolutely fantastic I cannot praise them enough for their care and good nature.

So from consultants, doctors, anaesthetists, nurses and all the ward staff -

I have to thank all the people working in the Hospital for their dedication and very hard

work in making my admittance to the Glenfield Hospital, as short and pain free as possible,

Many thanks

Alan
