NAMS seems to be finding every way possible to stop supplying badly needed stoma care products that make my life that little bit more bearable. This is especially over so called "accessories" where they have now refused to supply some specialist wipes that allowed me to easily change my stoma appliance away from home/bathroom (like out and about).... but no, they "suggest" I use the supply firms own "hand wipes" which whilst using a previous firm's caused me no end of skin issues and was told to NEVER use them, PLUS I have a confirmed diagnosed skin condition Psoriasis.
The new firm took 4 emails to eventually not commit to an answer to whether they were suitable and gave a very vague reply as though they knew they were not really meant for cleaning stomas. NAMS also are tying to change all my products to "better for me" ones... whereas in all honesty they are just wanting me to use cheaper ones, presumably so they can show they have saved money. I did not choose to have TWO stomas and they cause me no end of issues BUT I try to lead a normal life with a FULL time job paying full taxes.... shame I can't have a pack of proper wipes per month to ease the stresses and strains of Crohns.
Some other people with stomas wont go to work, but not me, so I had to take YET more time off work to attend their "bag police" < coined by others> assessment centre as otherwise probably would have the supply of disposable bags stopped too. Oh and can't have support garments either now that help tremendously... (I only need to order them every 3-5 years). The nurse was trying to be sympathetic by saying "don't shoot the messenger" as they knew the situation full well..... Nottingham Appliance Management Service (NAMS)... you have NO choice in Nottingham to use them sadly and their restrictive practices... Move? Yes I may well do.
