I was referred to Temenos for counselling. My first session involved me explaining what I saw as my problems and what I wanted from counselling. At my 2nd session, after filling in the assessment form, we spent the entire session talking about the problem of my irritating neighbour. At my 3rd session, the counsellor told me they thought I would be better off at Cruse as I have suffered a lot of bereavement over the past year. They told me this 3 times in 5 minutes. They also told me at that point, that I was only being offered 6-8 sessions of counselling. They handed me the contact details for Cruse and bid me goodbye.
I contacted Cruse as requested. However, assessments are only done on a Wednesday, so I have to wait until I have time available from work to go for the assessment. Then I was told there is a 4 month waiting list.
So now I am left with no support after all. I feel unsupported and scared by what I am experiencing without having someone to talk to about it.
Wouldn't it have been kinder to support me until Cruse's support kicked in? Now I am having to deal with my brother's suicide and other issues without help.
Very upsetting.
