Our Mum was a patient in Ward 12 for the last eleven weeks of her life.
The care that she received there was second to none and the staff are to be praised not only for their first class nursing skills but also the care, compassion, respect and dignity that they demonstrated on a daily basis towards Mum. Importantly, they saw her not simply as a patient but as a 94-year old lady with a life outside the hospital and a wealth of memories, and, when time allowed in their extremely busy working day, they took time to get to know her. We know how much this meant to Mum and to us as her family.
We also want to highlight the care and compassion that the staff showed towards us as Mum’s family at what was an extremely difficult time for us all. Never once were we made to feel in the way, especially in the last few weeks when we were there all the time. In fact, several of the staff went out of their way to support us and ensure that we were okay. It was apparent that our welfare was important to them.
"Staff care & compassion is second to none."
