My partner was urgently referred to the RVI assessment suite following some sudden neurological symptoms. A scan soon revealed worrying abnormal appearances which warranted urgent further investigation the following day. Having recieved the news of the scan we were understandably distressed; the staff on the assessment suite couldnt have done more to put us at ease. The ward sister allowed us to have a private cubicle so that I could spend the night with my partner and our relatives were allowed to visit despite the late hour, the doctor on call even took the time to update them on the situation. Throughout the night we were checked on several times and all of the staff we dealt with were kind, caring and a credit to the ward. Her referral to Neuroradiology for an MRI was done swiftly the following morning and it felt like we were kept updated on a regular basis whilst the scans were being reported. By the afternoon my partner was moved to a neurology ward where the staff were just as welcoming; soon after that she was seen by a consultant neurologist who had a likely diagnosis. Within two weeks a treatment plan was in place. Overall the care my partner recieved was excellent, from the genuine compassion shown by the staff on the assessment suite to the timely way in which things were moved on from a first symptom to a diagnosis within 24 hours - I truly believe this is how healthcare should be done. Thank you NUTH!
