After 4 years of symptoms I was referred by my GP for suspected thoracic endometriosis. Attended the 1st appointment in April, where I was given the opportunity to discuss my symptoms and booked in for a diagnostic laparoscopy. I had the laparoscopy in June. Before the surgery the ward staff and the surgeon explained the procedure and were friendly. After the surgery due to a small complication I had an unexpected over night stay. Unfortunately, the ward I stayed on overnight seemed very chaotic and understaffed. Staff did not seem to communicate with each other. Blood test that were due at 8 pm were not taken until 1am. One nurse saying you can go home then another saying you can't go home until you've had another blood test is not very reassuring. 10 weeks later I had a follow up appointment with a different consultant who was not helpful at all. Didn't listen to my symptoms, couldn't suggest any helpful treatment other than medication (there's a reason I'm not taking that already) or pain relief (if pain relief worked I wouldn't have bothered seeing a specialist!). So now after 5 months, feeling like I've wasted both mine and the hospital's time I'm having to go back to my GP to be referred to another specialist.
