My mum died recently, aged 101. She had advanced dementia and was cared for in a community hospital in West Lothian, Rosebery Unit Tippethill House for nearly 3 years. The care she received from the entire team within the Unit was of the highest quality. The team of nurses in the Unit, led by Carolann and the medical staff, namely consultant psychiatrist and Armadale Group Practice showed care, compassion dignity and respect to both my Mum and me, This Unit is a challenging area of care and in the three years I visited on a very regular basis I never saw anything but fantastic care delivered by a team who clearly cared for their patients and indeed the relatives, I count them as friends now. During the last few weeks of Mum's life as she slipped away they gave me so much support and comfort, spending time to see I was ok, a fantastic team who should be hailed in NHS Lothian as Champions. I would also wish to that I the Care U.K. team who mange the services for their kindness to mum and myself, they never passed her door without checking her, giving her a cuddle if she asked for it and also asking if I needed anything. I am so grateful for all the care given.
