My friend died in ward A32 in the early hours of Saturday morning. He had spent over a week in hospital and his death was not unexpected. The multidisciplinary team in ward A32 were very caring. Recognising that my friend had dementia they immediately sought information to facilitate his on going care. They were interested in him and his family and friends.
From the first moment when he was transferred and we were greeted by Donna (Staff Nurse) to the moments when Lindsay (Staff Nurse on Night Duty) supported my friends son at the time of his death his physical and spiritual needs were met.
It is challenging to remember all the names. Dr Scougal was his Consultant and a junior doctor Sam was also very attentive. The support nurses were thoughtful and even enquired about my well being. When Palliative Care was employed Morven was an asset as was Phillip, the Chaplain.
Thanks very much to Tracy, Senior Charge Nurse for her leadership.
"Excellent care"
