In October 2019 we accompanied our son to Llandough hospital for facet joint injections in Cavoc ward 5 under the consultant. We were told to be there at 8am but he did not receive treatment until about 4.30pm. We were told that the consultant preferred to deal with main spinal procedures first and then less complicated cases last or buffered inbetween. We were not happy with this- nine hours to wait for minor injections, albeit important procedures. We feel this length of time was unwarranted and would appreciate an explanation of the logic behind this practice. No-one could answer how long we had to wait so therefore we had to stay there. We are parents in our seventies and sole carers of Malcolm who lives on his own. He suffers from anxiety and depression - he was allowed water to take with medication but otherwise nil by mouth. We appreciate hospitals are very busy places but feel consideration should have been given to the circumstances and more information given on arrival.
