I visited Goole district out of hours tonight with my 9 week old after calling 111, she hadn’t been passing stools for the last 2 days and was in pain, as I waited in reception a takeaway had been ordered and they were trying to figure out who’s it was, as I was called through by the gp it turned out the kebab was hers, I followed her into the room and she asked what the problem was, I started to explain how my daughter is a twin and why I had recently taken the other one to out of hours for reflux in order to explain to her why I had changed her milk, she rudely interrupted as if she was in a rush and said “and what about this twin” before I had finished my sentence. I carried on explaining and she said she will need some lactolose, printed off a prescription and sent me on my way.
I was really disappointed, my daughter is only 9 weeks old and in pain with constipation, she didn’t check her tummy or even get her out of the car seat to look at her. I wasn’t advised how to give the prescription to her for example before or after food. I’m not a doctor and yes I know I have changed her milk but she also wasn’t taking her original formula, it could have been more than just constipation. I felt so rushed and just like she wanted to get to her takeaway before it got cold. I will be taking my daughter to my usual doctor tomorrow as I need some advice on the formula I’m using on both twins. Hopefully I will get more help there.
