Scheduled visit to the Day Surgery Unit (DSU) at Crosshouse today. If anyone knows the DSU, they will know it is a very busy unit. My Medical details are superfluous but the attention and care I got was special to me.
I was received by a nurse (Arlene?) who stayed with me all the time. The planned surgery was not possible due to a complication (me, not the DSU! ). The resultant, revised, procedure was fully explained to me by the Surgeon. He had previously introduced himself and the other 2 theatre staff.
Nurse Arlene continued to chat with me during the procedure, which I really appreciated. I particularly liked the bit when, after about 15 minutes, she said "That's us nearly done".
I was then handed over to a trainee nurse (in her last 2 weeks at Uni) who got me all the 'Home stuff' (Dressings for District Nurse use, letter to GP) and went through the 'Going Home' dos and don'ts leaflet.
My main reason for this comment is to thank the two Nurses - Arlene and the Student nurse. They both had that magic quality, often seen in NHS Nurses. That special look that says 'I really do care!'
Thanks again Ladies.
