I visited my friend on Sat at RIE ward 203, my friend's daughter and I managed speak to an on call Doctor, Dr Robson. She took the time to explain to us and gave us information that we had never been told by the Consultant. My friend got ACP meds prescribed but nobody explained to the sons and daughter that the pt has been prescribed ACP meds and when and how to use it. Also by having a detailed conversation with Dr Robson, we worked out my friend needs to have her stomach medication restarted. All her meds were stopped by the Consultant because the Consultant said she is dying a week ago. However, my friend became better and able to eat and drink and most importantly she was uncomfortable because of the stomach issue.
We felt we were being listened to especially in such a difficult time. Most importantly, we would like the pt to be comfortable and has the appropriate care in an appropriate setting treated with respect and dignity.
