Following a heart attack in October 2019, I was rushed to the Jubilee Hospital with sirens and blue flashing lights. Thank you ambulance men based in Kilbirnie.
On reaching the Jubilee I was wheeled straight into the cath lab, a stent inserted and taken up to the cardiac ward all within 2 hours! My immediate thought was 'I have no pain in my legs'. Thank you to Dr Mitchell Lindsay and all his staff at the Jubilee - a wonderful team!
The stent allowed blood to flow again into my legs and removed the pain I had been suffering for over 2 years. Who knew sore legs could result in a heart attack? Next day, off to CCU at Crosshouse, Kilmarnock and into the caring hands of Staff Nurse Suzanne and her staff including Nurse Nan and Nurse Dyan (sorry I can't remember all of your names but you were all special).
I was then referred for Cardiac Rehab. I have just finished my 10 week referral today. I can't speak highly enough about the excellent team who run this course from Ayrshire Central Hospital. From my initial assessment with Laura and Kim to my weekly meetings at the Douglas Grant rehab centre with Aileen, Stacy, Hazel and Laura and Jane.
I have met some exceptional people who have also been on the course. Marion, Billy, Michael and Terri. I wish all well and we may run into one another as we continue to complete our recovery. Thank you ladies for all that you have done and to get me back running, albeit fairly slowly, at least I can run again whereas a year ago I could barely walk.
You have all given me a new lease of life and for that I thank all of you. You are all very special people!
