"Missing deceased belongings"

About: Kettering General Hospital

(as a relative),

My mother was admitted to KGH at the beginning of May 2020 for a period of 2 days before she sadly died.

The staff have lost her personal belongings, including her clothes, dentures and a sentimental gold necklace with a crucifix on that she never took off.

Proceedures were not followed regarding listing patient's valuables. The staff were negligent with her personal belongings. When attempts were made to contact the wards involved everyone shirked responsibility, we were even made out to be lying! We were treated with contempt, and laughed at, certainly not how you're expected to be treated, especially not when mourning for a loved one gone so suddenly.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m sorry to hear things have not been positive and that property has gone missing.

If you contact the patient Experience Team on 01536 492173 they would be happy to discuss this further with you.

Unfortunately, we have already done so and we have been informed that "all avenues have been exhausted" and "it's gone! What do you want me to do?" and given a claim form. Meanwhile our loved one has no dentures- the lack of dignity! Furthermore sentimental jewellery cannot be replaced by money.
