"First seizure-access to neurology"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a service user),

My father has his first seizure in January 2020. We were advised that even with the current Covid 19 restrictions he would receive an appointment (we assume for a remote assessment) within 17 weeks as his referral was marked as Urgent. We are now 22 weeks post seizure with no contact from a neurologist.

We completely appreciate the delays etc to treatment etc within the current climate but wonder if someone would be kind enough to provide us with details as to how to get an update as to the expected timescale of his first appointment?

As I'm sure you can understand we are keen to avoid any further seizures or hospital admissions at this time and my Father is an excellent candidate for a Near Me appointment so having an idea of timescales would really help put his and our mind at ease.

Dear NHSpatient01,

I was sorry to read of the lack of an update you have received in relation to your father's neurology appointment. I appreciate this must be a worrying time for you and the lack of communication at this time has not helped.

I have spoken with Graham Christie who is our Clinical Services Manager for Neurology and he would be happy to assist you. He has asked if you could call email him at Graham.Christie@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Kind Regards

Dear NHSpatient 01,

Thank you for making contact with my colleague Graham. He explained to me he had been able to redirect your inquiry to NHS Lanarkshire colleagues for follow up and that you were satisfied with his response.

Thank you again for taking the time to post this and I would like to wish your father well with his future care.

Kind Regards
