I went to A&E Crosshouse after waking up at 2am worrying about what I thought were Neurological symtoms but turned out to be a form of Vertigo. The Vertigo was triggering Nystagmus which I found incredibly distressing. The doctor that treated me in A&E was very professional but most important to me empathetic and took in to account the psychological distress I was in. I want her to know that a very brief inpatient stay provided me with reassurance as I knew if I was experiencing these acute episodes repeatedly I would be very distressed at home. I felt like she advocated for me. Shes a credit to your A&E. I know this is public so I havent named the doctor but if you wish to know you can contact me.
I was briefly in ambulatory care and was really struggling to move due to the vomiting. Staff were lovely and when my nausea improved I was offered lots of cups of tea a small thing but really appreciated by me. Despite being so busy everyone was great
I was then moved to 3B and have to say that the nurses and nursing assistants had the best bedsides manners so friendly. Everything ran like clockwork and the cleaning going on to protect patients was honestly so obvious. Every member of staff I met was cheery including the housekeepers who actually said goodbye to the room before going home from their shift. I was seen by both the consultant and possibly an FY2 and again couldnt have asked for nicer doctors.
People are quick to criticise the NHS and thats why I felt it was important to write this review because my care was outstanding and Im so grateful to every member of staff I came in to contact with. You really do need to let these areas know that they do an exceptional job. When people are ill they are so vulnerable, and the staff make all the difference in getting people through a rough couple of days. Its a high stress job but everyone I met made it look easy
Sincerely thank you
