I have been having treatment over several years to my right eye due to a car accident in 1976. I was first treated at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield where I received excellant care and they managed to save my eye which was very badly cut. I then moved to Harrogate in Yorkshire in 1989 where I had a corneal graft which did not go very well and rejected. I was refered to Mr Nobal at the LGI Clarendon Wing. The treatment was second to none form the moment you walked through the door. I have had several corneal grafts/operations since transfereing to LGI all with Mr Nobal and his team and again treatment as been second to none. The staff treated you as a person and not just a number right from the reception to the consultant. This give you lots of reassurance and going to hospital is not such a ordeal.
The eye dept as transfered to St James now and is of course a little diffrent I still see some of the same faces (nursing staff from Clarendon Wing) who have a chat which is nice, but like anything things do change. I believe Mr Nobal as retired and Mr Ball is now the councultant who is looking after me and I find the care is still second to none, nothing is too much trouble for him (I feel there is still a little of Mr Nobel there) and you never feel rushed even though the clinic is very busy. This service is so important to those of us who have to have treatment like this and I do not know where we would be without it.
