I just want to say a huge thank you to all of the wonderful people who have been helping me look after and treat my 91 year old father recently, From all the staff at Carolside Medical centre and Dr Crilly who, even in these exceptionally difficult Covid times managed to home visit, through the call handlers and medical advisers at 111 and 999, the ambulance crew who attended at 3.30 am to the consultants and staff (particularly a specialist discharge nurse) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow what can I say?
It is not new facilities, state of the art equipment, and medical knowledge that counts. It certainly helps. What makes the difference is people. I cannot stress enough how impressed I was with every single one of the people I have been dealing with. They have all put me and my father (as best as possible) at ease. Their Glasgow banter, their caring and understanding personalities and professional ability and knowledge deserves real recognition and respect. They say that the medical and caring professions are a "vocation" and never have I witnessed such a wonderfully consistent, caring and professional service as over the last week. My humble gratitude and total respect to you all. You should all be very proud of what you do. Dealing with sickness is one thing. Handling stress and worry and all the emotions of both patients and their relatives demands real tact, diplomacy, compassion and reassurance, Everybody has shown all of these skills. Absolutely amazing performance.
My father is now being treated in ward 51, a geriatric ward at the QEUH and we are able to talk by phone with him and receive regular updates on his progress. A huge thank you to you all.
"Absolutely amazing performance"
