"Top quality care at Tameside General ward 40"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

In August of last year, I was admitted to ward 40 of the Tameside General Hospital for the treatment of a clot behind the lungs, The standard of care which I received during my stay was very good. I was particularly pleased when the surgeons took the time to explain to me exactly what treatment they would be carrying out - this helped to make me feel considerably more relaxed prior to the operation.

The service provided by all staff was of the highest quality, and for this, I am most grateful.

As such, and in response to a report in the Daily Express stating that "OAPs are being starved during their stay in hospital", I wrote a letter to the Editor objecting to this report, detailing my own positive experience on ward 40 of the Tameside General.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding your care and treatment at the hospital. I am particularly pleased to note that you felt the standard of care to be of the highest and that medical staff explained your treatment to you. This is clearly a very important part of you care in hospital. Thank you also for taking the time to write to the editor of the Daily Express, informing him of your positive experiences at Tameside General Hospital. You have not been specific about the members of staff involved, so I cannot pass on your comments directly to them. However, you may like to know that you can nominate staff who have given exceptionally good service for our “Show you care for those who care” or “Above and Beyond” awards. Details of both awards, as well as entry forms, are available on the hospital website and click on “Patient Information”.
