"Hysteroscopy trauma"

About: Kingston Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I did hysteroscopy to remove polys at Kington Hospital - London. It was the most traumatic pain experience I've ever had in my life, and I don't think it's human to do that to any woman.

The nurses were so polite and sweet only after I realized that this was their job because of what they already knew what they were going to witness. During the consultation it was not mentioned that if the pain was unbearable I would have another option for general anesthesia. At the time of the procedure when I was no longer taking the pain (yes, local anesthesia was applied) at that moment the doctor said: If you can't take it, I'll have to stop and make another appointment for you general anesthesia and you will have to quarantine before and after because of COVID. At that point I had to make a quick decision to proceed or not. With this psychological pressure and the delay of months to get another appointment, I asked her to continue.

I was aesthetically crying until the end of the procedure was in so much pain. I don't believe that any woman should go through so much pain, that is wrong and inhuman. Every time I remember I start to cry with this memory, mainly that I was there alone. If I imagined it would be so traumatic I would have a support with me.
