"Consultant led care during pregnancy"

I had been planning on having a home birth since the beginning of my pregnancy, but was considered high risk and knew it would be against guidelines. I first saw Dr Raheja in my third trimester and fully expected her to try to put me off having a home birth. I had been feeling very anxious about going to the appointment for this reason.

While she did go through the risks with me, it was done in a way that still made me feel in control and not pressured to decide a certain way. She also explained how the chance of those things happening were low. When I said that I would still want a home birth, she was very supportive and left it at that.

I came away from the appointment feeling able to fully relax knowing that my consultant was on board with my plans. It made a huge difference to the remainder of my pregnancy, she was brilliant.
