"Monster Kidney Stone"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Urology (Ward 6) University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I was rushed to A&E at Wishaw at the end of October with kidney stones and was admitted to the ward after being taken straight thru and given pain relief. Turns out I have a 12mm kidney stone. Ouch.

Staff at A&E I remember speaking to, (in between the morphine haze) were Lorna something and Michelle Graham I think. They were great with me.

I then got moved to the ward and I was looked after by Samantha and a student nurse whose name I can't remember.

The following day, I got transferred to Monklands urology department. Got chatting to the driver of the ambulance who was a lovely chap too.

I got to Monklands and although I don't really like the building, the staff were great. I was looked after by a nurse named Leah as well as others, again, whose names I can't remember.

Im now back in Monklands and just had my day surgery. Being looked after by Patricia and others. I'm terrible with names and trying to catch their name tags.

From the get go, the staff have been amazing. The nurses, doctors, consultants, domestic staff are all very professional, very friendly and my blood pressure readings show how much at ease they are making me. I'm sorry I can't remember everyone's names, but they've all been great. Everything has been explained to me and I've never been left not knowing what's happening, which makes the experience so much easier.

Once this Coronavirus is a bit more under control, I'll definitely be back with a card and chocolates for sure.

How the staff can stay so positive and cheerful when they are non-stop, is beyond me.

Please thank them all for taking such good care of me. 😊👍
